What information we collect

When you send an enquiry, contact us or book a bar, we may collect:

  • your name, email address and phone number;
  • event details, such as the date, venue, guest numbers and the kind of bar you would like;
  • anything else you choose to tell us, such as drinks preferences, budget, service times or venue access;
  • messages you send us, including through your client page;
  • booking and payment-related information if you go ahead with a booking.

We don’t usually collect sensitive personal information unless you choose to give it to us, or it is needed for safety, access requirements or legal reasons.

Why we use your information

  • to reply to your enquiry and prepare your quote;
  • to plan and deliver your bar service, including licence applications where your event needs one;
  • to manage bookings and payments, and to give you access to your client page;
  • to deal with incidents, complaints or legal obligations;
  • to keep this website secure and prevent misuse.

Sending an enquiry does not sign you up to marketing emails.

Our lawful reasons

We only use personal information where we have a lawful reason to do so. These may include:

  • Contract: where we need your information to quote for, plan or provide your bar service.
  • Legitimate interests: to run our business, respond to enquiries, keep records and prevent misuse.
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep or share information for licensing, tax, accounting, insurance or safety reasons.
  • Consent: where you agree to a specific use, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We only share information where it is necessary and relevant. This may include:

  • the services that run this website, deliver our emails, check enquiries for spam and run our booking and planning system;
  • payment providers, if you make a payment;
  • our bar staff and event suppliers, where needed to deliver your service;
  • insurers and professional advisers;
  • licensing authorities, police or other public authorities where the law requires it or it is needed for safety.

We will not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

  • enquiry records: up to 2 years;
  • booking and payment records: up to 7 years, for accounting, legal and insurance reasons;
  • incident, safety or insurance records: longer where necessary.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics, from our website host, to count visits and a few actions, such as opening the Client Portal demo or downloading a menu card. It does not use cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not identify you. It records the page visited (without anything you type into a form), the site you came from, and your general country, browser and device type. We do not use advertising pixels or advertising cookies. Our enquiry form may use a spam check that processes technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to confirm the form is being used by a person. If we introduce advertising cookies, we will update this notice and, where required, ask for your consent.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside Guernsey. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards and terms those providers use, and take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected.

Your rights

Under data protection law, you may have the right to:

  • ask what information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • ask us to delete information in certain circumstances;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, certain uses of your information;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To use any of these rights, email hello@thedirtyolive.gg. We may need to confirm your identity before we respond.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to contact the Office of the Data Protection Authority in Guernsey.
